The question we took to the water
A distant shoreline is often presented as a simple test of curvature. Our aim was narrower: photograph the same fixed markers from the same platform with three focal lengths, while recording the variables that most often go missing from online comparisons.
We treated the exercise as an observation log, not a verdict. Camera height, air temperature, water temperature, pressure and visibility were recorded before each sequence.
What the frames appear to show
The longer lens recovered detail that the wide frame could not resolve. Supporters of a flat-earth interpretation point to that recovered detail as evidence against geometric obstruction.
Atmospheric refraction, wave height and the exact elevation of the far-shore markers remain important competing explanations. The complete sequence matters more than any single crop.
Repeat the observation
Use a stable platform, publish an uncropped frame, record camera height from the waterline and repeat the sequence across changing conditions. A useful result is one another observer can test independently.
